Irene, Red Wool Suit
Description
Dark red worsted wool suit with eight center front button closure and straight skirt; black leather waistline belt.
a Jacket
Belted jacket with one piece collar with front points; hugs neckline. Center front opening with eight (7/8" diameter) buttons; 8 bound buttonholes but only bottom four are functioning. Jacket is hip length and belts with black leather belt at waistline during wear; thread belt loops at side seams. Jacket tapers at waistline. Intricate front seaming with right angle seam formed from front vertical bust darts connecting with horizontal seam which extends to side seam at waistline. Inverted center back pleat from 4" below collar to jacket hem edge except for 1" seam stitched at back waistline. 2.25" pleats at side backs forming flange from armhole to waistline. Slash/vertical bound pockets at lower front hip level. Jacket is fully lined in black crepe. Two inside loops at waistline to hang skirt
b. Skirt
Straight skirt. Set on 1.25" wide waistband with two hook and eye closures; left side hand-picked zipper. Center front seam with four waistline darts, each stitched down for 1.25" from waistline, then released. No side seams. Left and right side back seams, released into pleats 8" from hem edge. Wide 5" inverted pleat at center back stitched to form seam and released into kick pleat 7" from hem edge. One waistline dart at left and right back. Skirt is unlined.
c. Black leather belt worn at waistline over jacket: 1" wide.
