De la Renta, Oscar, Black silk dress with floral motif
Description
Oscar de la Renta black floral print below knee dress with v-neck and long sleeves. Stylized orange-red and yellow small and large flower print with blue vines and green leaves. V-neck outlined in 2"wide coordinating border fabric with blue edge and floral motif within in band. Border continues from neck opening to waistline seam at center front. Back bodice with slight v shaped at center back neck, also outlined with border fabric. Hook and eye and center back neckline. Bodice lined with black lining fabric. Center back hand-picked zipper. Long set in sleeves with two inch wide cuff of same border fabric used at neckline and center front of bodice with blue edge forming edging of cuff. Two covered snaps closure at wrist. Dirndl skirt gathered to bodice at waistband. Basic linear silhouette in skirt with slight fullness. Larger floral border print at hem edge. Skirt fully lined. Black crocheted belt loops at side waist of dress. No belt with garment.

Provenance
This dress belonged to Mrs. (Harriet) Cyrus Fulton. Harriet was born 10/22/1911 in Columbus, Ohio. Her father, William Lanman, was Chairman of the Columbus Bolt Works Company. She attended the Columbus School for Girls. She later married Cyrus Lupher Fulton, who worked as an assistant treasurer of a local Columbus company.
