Description
Valentina red/black striped wool suit (dress & jacket); sheath dress, sleeveless-2 inch straps; sweetheart neckline; dart down both sides of the front of bodice; zipper set in at left side seam; lined from the inside center back at waist to hem; JACKET- red/black stripe, fitted bodice, long sleeves; three black buttons close jacket at center front waist; hook and eye at neck of jacket; black velvet round collar; ribbing at hem of jacket in black cord; jacket lined in black silk; stripes of dress and jacket are horizontal, stripes of sleeves and straps are vertical.

Provenance
This suit was worn by Harriet Walker Henderson. Harriet lived from 12/31/1903-11/7/2007. She was born in Minnesota to a prominent family who owned a highly successful forest products corporation. It was started by her grandfather T.B. Walker, who was originally from Xenia, Ohio. She married Wellington S. Henderson in Piedmont, California on 3/22/1930. Wellington was born in Nevada on 2/15/1902. His father, Charles Henderson, was a lawyer. Wellington and Harriet eventually moved to California where Wellington worked as an investment counselor at a bank.
