Moravian Man's Ensemble
Description
Moravian men's costume consisting of a vest, shirt, breeches, belt and hat. a) Green wool felt; multicolored embroidery (yellow, pale green, pink, red, blue, orange, light blue, and lavender) at all openings and pocket welts; pale green X cross stitch embroidery at all seams; 18 gold filigree buttons and fake buttonholes; three gold filigree buttons on each pocket welt; lined with natural colored linen. b) White cotton sheeting; black embroidery at collar, cuffs and center front opening; yellow embroidery on shoulder yokes; small stand-up collar; front opening to middle of shirt; bodice is pin-tucked into collar; very full sleeves with cartridge pleats at shoulder and cuffs, has underarm gusset; hem has side vents. c) Brown sueded cotton; X cross stitched embroidery down side seams and around pocket openings; legs cartridge-pleated into waist and knee bands; deep pockets in side seams; gusset at side seams and knee; suede ties at knee with decorative cutouts; fully underlined in natural-colored linen. f.)Cream and tan leather lined with felted wool; wide; decorative center strip in brown sueded cotton covered with multicolored embroidery; embroidery also in leather on either side; decorative metal staples set along edges of strip; decorative cutting in edge of leather that binds belt and leather around center strip. g.) Black wool felt; short rolled brim; low flat top; yellow ribbon hat band with multicolored brocade pattern; back bow with stacked loops supported by stiff paper; paper flowers on right side; two red, white, and blue ribbons under flowers; elastic chin band.
