Black cotton and glass bead crochet cape with front lappets and high collar; ends of lappets and shoulders trimmed with crochet and glass bead ball tassels; hem edge trimmed with glass ball fringe; has a waistband attachment; opening for the arms between lappets and cape which encloses the back; hook and eye front closure

Provenance

This beaded cape more than likely belonged to Lucy Field. Lucy was born in 1866 and was married to William K. Field. The couple lived in Minnesota where William was the vice-president of a coal company. The couple eventually returned to Columbus, where William had been born.
